Quests[edit | edit source]
Buy or Farm[edit | edit source]
After talking to Horadric about a vegetable garden south of the keeper's house he will tell you that it is abandoned and that he sold it to the merchant. He asks you to speak to the merchant first, but you are able to do it anyway after using the
Garden certificate.
After meeting the merchant he tells you that you can use the land if you are able to successfully grow vegetables.
If you refuse twice, you'll have to buy the garden for 10 and make it nice again. After an apology, he'll trade with you again, and lower the price to a final
1 . You'll still be able to work the garden without paying the money, but you need to pay to advance the questline.
If you accept the barter, he gives you a quest to bring him your first harvest of 12x
Carrot, 12x
Cabbage, and 12x
Beet to get a 1x
Story.
Repay Loan[edit | edit source]
When you repay the 1 loan, you gain 10
and 1x
Story.
Hiccup Cure[edit | edit source]
The merchant is suffering from hiccups. After trying to scare the hiccups out of him, he gives you a quest to find 1x
Hiccup grass growing in the swamp, west of the church across the stone bridge which you have to repair. Return to the merchant for 10 and a 1x
Story.
No Taste[edit | edit source]
After you bring him some
Hiccup grass it cures his hiccups but also leaves him unable to taste anything due to a curse. He requests that you speak to Clotho about a cure.
After some back-and-forth about professional courtesy to the other witch who cursed him, Clotho relents and tells you the recipe for her cure:
Salt and
health solution. These two ingredients used together will create
spices. It is possible to create spices without talking to her first.
Bring the spices to the merchant for another 10 . You can not give him the spices without first talking to Clotho.
Trade license[edit | edit source]
Next you need a
trade license, which can be bought from the royal services next to the church. To be able to buy it, you need to buy the "Righful Citizen" status for 3 in advance. The
trade license costs 50 .
Once you bring your license to the merchant, he will open up the trade office and ask you to bring a crate of goods each for him to sell. These
crates are made in the crate factory (in older versions, the packing table).
Royal Dinner[edit | edit source]
Next task is making 5x
Dinner for him to present them before the king.
After 60[edit | edit source]
You need to complete the two tasks related to the trade office (getting enough fame and selling 7 crates), that should give you at least 70 to unlock the next step. You ask him how the royal dinner was, and he said it was great, and that even though now they got some support from the royal council as a whole, the head of the council needs some more convincing. More specifically, Ms. Charm's convincing.
Promoting your business[edit | edit source]
You want to try and use Ms. Charm to make your veggie-selling business grow. You need at least 40 with her for that, and you need to make her a piece of jewelry. After doing this, besides getting 1x
fame for the trade office, she will start selling
jewelry and
perfume.
Big Ceremony[edit | edit source]
The merchant tells you that all went well, but he wants to attend a big ceremony as keeper of the king's kitchen and needs your help for that. After the Inquisitor turned you down, you can ask the merchant to join your feast in the cathedral. He agrees and hands you an
Accepted invitation to show to the bishop.
Salty Fork[edit | edit source]
Ask him for the
Salty fork. He'll only give it to you, if you reached 100 with him.
Loan[edit | edit source]
If you ask him about seeds he'll offer you a loan of 5 with 100% interrest. If you decline it first, you can always get it via talking about your deal and then about the loan. It is not timed but you have to pay back
10 .
Trades[edit | edit source]
Note: as of v1.3, the merchant no longer sells or buys faceted diamonds. He may still have them in his inventory within game-instances that began prior to v1.3 - this is likely an oversight.
