Breaking Dead[]

How should this be handled, like a DLC for other games and we tag all the articles with DLC only?? Matarife (talk) 18:24, 29 October 2018 (UTC)

Scaling Screen Size[]

I seem to have a problem with the video not scaling to screen size correctly as it cuts off the burial certificates and i cant select them to sell .... Im running my video above 1024x768 (1366x768) but windowed, borderless or fullscreen has the same trouble ... I looked into the unity website and noticed that if the ui was set to scale with the window changes it wouldnt have that problem but as its a closed build I cant change it myself ... and so it needs to be done by the developer to fix it ... in the mean time What kind of work around might be possible so i can actually sell of my 20 or so cerificates ? User:99.241.230.206 11:57, August 27, 2018‎

My only suggestions would be to play around with the resolution sizes and fullscreen vs windowed, etc ...which it kinda sounds like you've already done that. The devs have released several updates in the past month, so maybe your problem has been fixed ...if not, try reporting it on Steam's Discussion pages. Dsurian (talk) 06:09, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Fish catching[]

I don't understand the weight in the fish's bait table listed as poor to best. Shouldn't it be re-worked to just show the percentages to catch with that specific bait and rod combination?--Megamidboss1 (talk) 21:50, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

That can get incredibly complex pretty quickly, especially with fish whose odds change based on Day or Night. If I can think of a good way to present it, I may update each Fish accordingly after making pages for each Fishing Location then making sure the main Fishing page is fully updated. RoninOfDreams (talk) 01:17, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
Fish unfortunately don't have a very straight forward representation which translates well to the wiki format. It's an area of somewhat active effort. Internally those weights are what effect the odds of each fish appearing. Since that whole system is not player visible though it's somewhat unintuitive. Ideally I'd like a representation closer to what it is in game but I'm not sure that would be an improvement. Odds for each fish can change according to rod, time of day, location, bait, and cast range, as well as according to what other fish are available. As well not only does the probability of catching each fish change but also the delay before they'll bite. This could potentially mean 810 different probability tables for each fish as each factor is varied. Since the amount of information that would entail is difficult to read meaningfully, especially on mobile, I'd opted for the current representation with the hidden weights the game actually uses to calculate those final probabilities exposed. If you can think of a layout which is more easily interpreted feel free to make suggestions. Quadrapod (talk) 23:36, 6 September 2018 (UTC)
It would appear Dsurian has taken over updating the main Fishing Hub page, taking a leaf from what I was doing with the location-specific pages. To the point of making them rather pointless to have anymore, since the catch tips are also being reintegrated in a chart form to the hub page. Probably safe for an admit to delete both the Sea and Village Pond pages given that. The only recommendation I would have is to NOT reverse the PNG of the fishing bar, keeping it to what is seen in game would avoid confusion. RoninOfDreams (talk) 15:58, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
You said it best, Ronin - the Fishing page is a hub (that I'm still working on), and means to as-briefly-as-possible answer the wide variety of most fishing questions. The downside is that there's a limit to the detail, which is why we have the benefit of creating numerous other articles, potentially describing at greater length specific details about each rod, bait, fish, etc. Regarding locations, yes, the hub will have a list of the 5 locations, the fish that can be caught there, and the best possible chance to catch them ...at least that's my end goal. However, that doesn't necessarily make your pages unreasonable or arbitrary, as the locations - especially in regards to the Sea and Waterfall - can be incredibly complex, and I don't plan on going into that much detail on the hub. In my perfect world, maybe we could separate each section of the map into named areas with their own article, detailing each unique feature of that area as sub-titles, including fishing spots (Swamp>Waterfall / Forest>River / etc.) ...but I'm not sure how effective that'll be, just like all my other ideas. Either/or, I wouldn't be too hasty to delete your hard work. :) ...regarding the orientation of the pictures, yeah - it was just an experiment. Anyone can feel free to change it back to the way it was - just need to revert the file - but the problem I foresee is having to stipulate what 'near/far' mean in every particular case, which is the one benefit of the swapped pics (near is always left, far is always right). Item Box Vendor Formatting[]

Seems like there hasn't been any recent updates to this or the admin page, so I'm hoping someone still reads these. I'm doing some clean up work -- making sure formatting is consistent between pages, capitalization, etc. One of the things I started working on is fixing the Item Boxes, because it seems like at one point the "Source(s)" section used different keywords (vendor/buying versus the current format of buy/sell). As I've been cleaning these up, I've also been updating them. Quite a few items are missing this information.

There's a couple of items that needed multiple vendors listed (i.e. Wheat is sold both by Farmer and Miller), but only one of them was listed. In addition, there are some items that have different qualities sold across multiple tiers of the same vendor (i.e. bronze quality Pumpkin sold by Farmer at tier II, silver quality Pumpkin sold by Farmer at tier III). I've tried multiple different ways to format these (line break, comma, etc.) and none of them really look good, in my opinion.

One suggestion would be to remove the tier from the Item Box -- it would shorten the vendor name, so that "Farmer, Miller" wouldn't wrap, and in the case of multiple tiers, you'd just have "Farmer" instead of "Farmer (T II), Farmer (T III)". I don't feel like this would be a detriment, since these are links to the vendor's page that gives more detail about the items they buy/sell -- including the tiers -- but I didn't want to start sweeping through with this change without first discussing it with the community. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion? Amythyst34 (talk) 01:34, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

Found a page that handled the tier issue better by formatting it like this: Miller (T II & T III). I'd still like some feedback on what people think about listing multiple vendors, though. Amythyst34 (talk) 03:09, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
Ended up using line breaks. The Firewood page in particular looked very cluttered trying to use commas between each vendor's name. So I'll leave it at that and keep moving along. Amythyst34 (talk) 03:58, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
